Punjabi industry has a line up of interesting sequels and threquels waiting for release like Nikka Zaildar 3, Manje Bistre 2, Mr and Mrs 420 2, Bambukat 2, Laavan Phere 2, Rocky Mental Returns.
It seems Punjabi industry’s love for sequels is growing stronger by the day.
While Carry On Jatta 2 is all set for a June 1 release, there are others sequels waiting to follow suit. If industry insiders are to be believed, the idea of sequel is mostly determined by the success of a prequel. But many a times, producers are compelled to bring back a story because of popular demand, like it’s happening with Punjabi film Sikander. The film starring Kartar Cheema and Gul Panag did not fare well at the box office nevertheless the actor has gone ahead and announced the sequel of the film, Sikander 2. “I’ve been getting calls from fans both in India and abroad who want to see me in a sequel,” adds Kartar who would be playing Sikander in the sequel as well.
Sikander 2 is not the only sequel; Punjabi industry has a line up of interesting sequels and threquels waiting for release like Nikka Zaildar 3, Manje Bistre 2, Mr and Mrs 420 2, Bambukat 2, Laavan Phere 2, Rocky Mental Returns. Though most sequels have retained their original star cast, some like Mr and Mrs 420 2 sees a change in the lead star cast. Instead of Babbal Rai, Mr and Mrs 420 2 sees Ranjit Bawa give Jassie Gill ‘comic’ company.
“Ideally, we’d like to keep the old star cast as it works the films favour but it becomes practically impossible sometimes due to date issues,” shares singer-actor Roshan Prince who will start shooting for Laavan Phere 2 soon which by the way will more or less retains its original star cast.
