Movie: Vadhaiyan Ji Vadhaiyan

Director: Smeep Kang

Star cast: Binnu Dhillon, Kavita Kaushik, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Karamjit Anmol, Jaswinder Bhalla, BN Sharma, Rupinder Rupi

Laughter is undoubtedly the best medicine, and when Punjabi industry’s best actor-comedians serve this medicine, it is bound to taste sweet, even though you might not like to taste this medicine again and again.

Directed by Smeep Kang, this week’s release Vadhaiyan Ji Vadhaiyan is a laugh-a-riot with an interesting storyline. The film goes through various phases; it is fun, funnier and almost regular as well, nevertheless entertaining.

Smeep Kang who is known for his comedy films, the most recent being Carry On Jatta 2 has done what he is good at, making every character in the film count. Smeep doesn’t let a comedy film sound like chankata and he ensures that laughter comes through situations and not just punches and one-liners.

The story of the film is interesting, not out-of-the box though. Vadhaiyan Ji Vadhaiyan boasts of an entertaining ensemble cast with actor-comedians Binnu Dhillon, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Karamjit Anmol, Jaswinder Bhalla and BN Sharma rolling one punch after the other. Binnu Dhillon slips into his character pretty well, making it look believable to the tee. Both Gurpreet Ghuggi and Karamjit Anmol are outstanding. Even though seasoned artistes Jaswinder Bhalla and BN Sharma are good with their punches, the ball is still the court of the three friends, Binnu Dhillon, Gurpreet Ghuggi and Karamjit Anmol. Kavita Kaushik is good in her role with countable dialogues. Rupinder Rupi is a superb artiste, and she proves this yet again. Harby Sangha makes a brief and unimpressive appearance, and so does Upasana Singh.

The songs in the film are hummable though they seem to be scattered in the film. The film is a happy ride, but who said a ride has the ride can’t through a high and low phase!
