When it is an Amrinder Gill film, you do not have to worry about the content, story and music. So, when you are booking tickets for this week’s Punjabi film release Ashke, you can be sure of these three things falling in place.

Directed by Amberdeep Singh, Ashke stars Amrinder Gill and television beauty, Sanjeeda Shaikh in the lead roles. Ashke, as the name suggests is a film, which revolves around Bhangra, in fact, it is an emotional journey of person whose life revolves around Bhangra.

Since Amberdeep and Amrinder Gill have already worked together in many projects, they seem to understand each other well, which shows in the film as well. Ashke will remind many of Khalsa College, Amritsar. It will also remind many of the good ol’ days of youth festivals and those coy love angles made during those festivals.

The good part about Ashke is that it is neither too edgy nor too fast, it is a film that can be enjoyed leisurely with a broad smile. The film stars Amrinder Gill in the lead, who takes to the role like butter to cookies! Amrinder Gill has an ease in his acting, which is what makes his on screen presence endearing. The film marks the debut of Sanjeeda Shaikh. This pretty face is here to stay for long. Jaswinder Bhalla hasn’t gone overboard with his dialogues, which is a good thing.

Vandana Chopra, Avi Randhawa and Roopi Gill have justified their roles to the tee. Jatinder Shah’s music is like a cherry on the cake. Jordan Sandhu’s song Handsome Jatta is foot-tapping. The film might just lure you into joining a Bhangra school, and if it does, well, ASHKE!
