Turn of this Raduaa!

Movie: Raduaa

Director: Nav Bajwa

Star cast: Nav Bajwa, Gurpreet Ghuggi, BN Sharma, Satinder Satti, Vaibhavi Joshi, Gurpreet Bhangu, Mahabir Bhullar

Even though Bollywood hasn’t done wonders in the sci-fi genre, films like Mr India and the Krrish series have been pretty entertaining. And now, we have a sci-fi Punjabi film, Raduaa. The expectations weren’t sky rocketing, but still reasonably high. But as it turns out the film is nothing but a reaffirmation of a basic lesson of life, “Do not expect because expectations cause pain.’

Other than this basic lesson, the film also stands a chance to win an award for ‘path breaking invention’! And all it took was director Nav Bajwa’s misplaced direction, half-baked storyline and of course, a ‘frequency modulator’!

Actually, this ‘frequency modulator’ is the real hero of the film. Just like other inventions that make life simple and solve problems, this one in Raduaa is used to solve ghar grihasti ki problems like, it is used to get the custody of a child, to make easy pocket money, and it is also used in matters of national security. What an invention!

The film starts on a slow pace, towards the climax this pace is lost somewhere, and all we have is a radio doubling up as a time machine!

Director Nav Bajwa had a chance to do so much under this genre, but he restricts it to drama and silly punches.

By the end of the film, you are also looking for an invention that can turn off this invention called Raduaa! Though the film has an interesting star cast of Nav Bajwa, Gurpreet Ghuggi, BN Sharma and Satinder Satti, none of the artistes could save this invention from being a flop.

Actor Nav Bajwa does some bit of good acting; but this is definitely not his best. Actor BN Sharma performs much below our expectations. His punches in Raduaa can be a reason for headache. Actor Gurpreet Ghuggi as always is a delight to watch and so is Satinder Satti, however in Raduaa one can’t help noticing her swollen upper lip and not acting. (Did someone say lip surgery, well, we didn’t!). Vaibhavi Joshi plays Nav Bajwa’s love interest, but clearly the actress is used in only song and dance sequences.

Even though Raduaa is a sci-fil film, the genre sci-fi is somewhere lost in useless drama. The second half is hopelessly lengthy. The portion of surgical strike clearly shows that no one from the crew was present with the editor at the editing table.

The songs in the film are foot tapping, at the same time; they make an entry at the most uncalled for moments. Raduaa neither has emotional content nor sci-fi, it’s all about a multi-purpose gadget which we wish to keep in a museum after the films over.
